The Head Start Center‑Based Preschool Program serves children ages 3–5 in safe, welcoming classrooms. Teachers support early reading, math, social, and emotional skills through play and hands‑on learning. Children receive healthy meals, health and dental screenings, and family support services.

Some communities have Head Start or Early Head Start services operated by an interim provider. The Office of Head Start oversees these programs.
