Income Eligibility
Your family may qualify if your income is at or below the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). This means your total income is at or below the amount set by the federal government each year.
Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Eligibility
Some Head Start programs serve families who work in agriculture. These programs support the unique needs of farmworker families and provide high-quality early learning. Your child may qualify if at least one family member earns most of their income from agricultural work, even if your income is higher than the usual limits.
Automatic (Categorical) Eligibility
Some families qualify automatically, even if their income is higher. You may qualify if any of the following apply:
- You receive public benefits such as TANF, SSI, or SNAP
- Your family is experiencing homelessness
- Children in foster care
Children With Disabilities
Head Start welcomes children with disabilities, including developmental delays. We provide the support they need to fully take part in the program. This includes early intervention services, special education, and support based on each child’s needs.
